Blou Bank Tented Safaris is situated in the 15,000 ha Blue Canyon Conservancy commanding spectacular views of the Drakensberg Mountains. The reserve is home to Big Game, including Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Elephant as well as a variety of antelope,giraffe, zebra etc.
Only 40 km from Hoedspruit/Eastgate Airport with daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town makes it easily accessible. Self drive is also possible as Blou Bank Tented Safaris is 5 hours drive from Johannesburg, 2 hours from Phalaborwa and 3 hours from Nelspruit.
On arrival at Blou Bank Tented Safaris you will be warmly welcome by our attentive staff who will be your hosts for the duration of your stay.The tented safari camp lends itself to the perfect setting of a bygone era when well-known explorer David Livingstone and his loyal assistants/travelling companions Chuma and Susi travelled to Africa and stayed in tents during their discoveries.Times have changed; but we found a way to capture the essence of staying in the bush with our spacious and comfortable 5 en-suite safari tents, offering modern conveniences like electricity, flush toilets, showers and two single beds with percale linen not forgetting the absolute beauty of being out in the wild.
Big Knob Thorn trees frame the en-suite safari tents sheltering the tents during the day but also providing the perfect ambience for an outdoor boma dinner experience ordinner on the inviting patio in the main camp area of the farmhouse.Facilities in the main camp farmhouse include a bar area, spacious lounge overlooking a waterhole with magnificent sunset views.
A typical day will begin with a morning guided walk into the 15 000 ha reserve where guests will have an opportunity to learn more about the fauna and flora of the area and possibly see the Little 5 , Ant Lion, Buffalo Weaver, Rhinoceros Beetle, Leopard Tortoise and Elephant Shrew, followed by a scrumptious brunch.Relax around the campsite and listen to the peaceful sounds of the Yellow-billed Hornbill and African wildlife or take part in the many optional activities offered in and around the Hoedspruit area.
