DESCRIPTION
Set in the heart of a nature conservancy on the banks of the Albasini Dam overlooking the Soutpansberg mountains, Shiluvari Lodge is nestled amongst centuries old Wild Fig trees offering the ideal base to explore the diverse natural and cultural heritage of the Land of Legend.
Once the old farmhouse, the main Lodge now boasts an intimate country restaurant and lounge area, complete with a fireplace and stunning views of the surrounds. Enjoy the sumptuous cuisine with its Afro-fusion style which incorporates both the best of local and European tastes.
Shilivari Lakeside Lodge features 7 charming thatched chalets situated apart from the main Lodge and boasting views overlooking the Lake. Guests can choose between family cottages sleeping 4 or smaller chalets sleeping 2. All the chalets offer en-suite bathrooms, lounge and kitchenette area, tea and coffee facilities, overhead fans, mosquito nets and a private verandah with a braai area. In keeping with the idea of escaping city life, one will not find a television or phones in the room, however both these services are available in the main Lodge, in addition to fax and e-mail.
The Lodge also offer 6 double bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms and open verandahs.
Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge is set in 30 hectares of natural vegetation and offers guests the opportunity to walk through the estate with the opportunity to spot Waterbuck, Kudu, Bushbuck and Duiker which are often seen grazing and browsing in the lodge grounds. Enjoy a sundowner cruise on the Savannah on the Levubu river and enjoy a cocktail whilst seeing the sun go down and listening to the call of the Fiery necked nightjar as evening falls.
Shiluvaris on-site restaurant, well known for its delicious afro-fusion cuisine, is open for breakfast and dinner daily. The simplistic approach is evident in utilization of fresh, local ingredients, beautiful presentation and a fine balance of African flavour and European sophistication. All dietary requirements are catered for, including vegetarian, halaal, kosher and diabetic.
Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge offers conference facilities including an air-conditioned conference room seating up to 20 delegates, as well as the larger thatched Lapa situated near the waters edge which can accommodate up to 100 guests, either for conferencing or special functions.The venues are equipped with a Flipchart/whiteboard, overhead projector, TV and VCR.
