Buffalo Thorn Lodge is an exclusive private, 5 star luxury Self Catering lodge; a peaceful sanctuary nestled in the African bush yet one which holds all the excitement of big five game-viewing.
Buffalo Thorn Lodge is the perfect lodge for family, friends, business colleagues and groups to break away from the busy city.
By road, the Lodge is about 2 hours from Johannesburg, in the heart of Black Rhino Game Reserve, within the Pilanesberg National Park. Only 30 kilometres from Sun City, it is in South Africa’s North West Province, a malaria free area..
The lodge is rented out exclusively sleeping 10 guests(including children). So thus the lodge is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay.

Buffalo Thorn lodge provides the ultimate escape from busy schedules, with five luxury thatched chalets accommodating only ten guests.The lodge is rented out exclusively sleeping ten guests. Thus meaning that you have the tranquility and the beauty of the bush all to yourselves.
The main entertainment area comprises a Dining room, TV Lounge, Reading Lounge, Games Area and a fully equipped Kitchen. Outside in the boma, you can relax around an African fire, listen to the sounds of the night or to the stories of your experienced game ranger. Alternatively you can star-gaze under an ink black sky or just relax over a good meal at the dining table and bar, inhaling the pungent smells of indigenous veld and wildlife.
Enjoy morning or afternoon game drives in an open vehicle as your ranger shows you the large and small species of the African bushveld. Or game view from the comfort of loungers around the pool. Alternatively relax in the Jacuzzi as many species of birds and buck, even some of the big five, such as elephant, amble past the electric fence a few metres from the pool deck.

| 5- Star! Thank you very much to Jacques and Nerina for such an amazing stay. The Buffalo Thorn Lodge experience was truly amazing and one I would recommend to anybody. I came along with my work colleagues as a team building weekend away and it was beyond memorable. The lodge is beautiful – brilliantly maintained with such sincere and amazing staff. There is honestly no way you can’t relax when you visit Buffalo Thorn. We were lucky enough to come across the most beautiful display of and encounter with a family of four elephants on our last evening there, along with the many other awesome animals we got to see. It is a place you look forward to coming home and talking about, but never want to leave! I really hope to be back soon in the near future. I definitely understand why it has a 5 star rating – top class!

| Favourite Family Spot Once again we had such a stunning time at the Lodge. A definite favourite for my family. We will be back soon. Thank you for the amazing hospitality, such wonderful staff at hand, always willing to help and very friendly. The game ranger had so much patience with my kids and always found the time to entertain their curious minds. (They loved the game drives ). | Great Stay Spent 2 nights at Buffalo Lodge. An amazing experience. The lodge was occupied by the family and we found
the management and staff tremendous.
A special thanks must go to our Game Ranger Jacque who was the essence of patience with my very young grandchildren and having fostered their interest in the wild life around them .
The teenagers with us, also had a great time and benefited from the words of wisdom of our ranger.
Will definitely be back.
