ACTIVITIES
Quad Biking:
Come experience the reel thing and encounter natural obstacles on our quad trail. No experience is needed; our guides will take you through proper instruction to safely enjoy this amazing activity. Its an hour ride into the bush and down to the community where you will meet the villages and show you the community project sponsored by the lodge.
Archery:
Archery is one of the ancient activities that we offer using modern days equipment. We use the modern re-curve bows and it is called this because of its curved shape. The guide will safely brief you on how to use the equipment and tell you briefly a story about the bushman hunters. Please give yourself an opportunity to learn the technique of this challenging art form.
Air Gun:
Experience the satisfaction of shooting at a very small target, by using very small bullets called pallets. It is an extremely enjoyable activity to do with lots of fun and laughter. The guide will take you through a proper safety instruction on how to use the equipment.
Tribal Show:
An overwhelming Tswana and Zulu dancing experience which will take you through an African ritual. Singing to us is the food of life that heals the human soul. The storyteller will introduce the SANGOMA, its a name given to someone in contact with ancestral spirits or a witch doctor. After the Sangoma the stick fighters will jump in, stick fighting provided an opportunity for men to build courage and skills, to distinguish themselves as proficient warriors, and to earn respect in the community.
African Marimba Band:
A stunning 4 piece African power marimba is a traditional xylophone made of wood and it has an incredible earthly sound used by most tribes in Africa. Its a stunning way to keep guest entertained during a bush braai or gala dinner.
Percussion Band:
We play variety of different drums and instrument that includes djembe drums, conga drums, cowbells and shakers. This pulsating spectacle rhythm and power is presented by six percussionists that will make your heart pound with the rhythms of Africa.
Interactive Drumming
Drumming in a part of the African culture that has been used for centuries as a form o expression and was also one the elements were communities communicated with each other. Come and learn this ancient art, were you will feel the vibrations from top to toe. We need a minimum of five people for this experience and have the capacity to o up to a hundred and twenty people.
Conservation Safaris
The concept of involving guests in conservation exercises has traditionally been beyond the reach of guests in our private reserves, and even more so in national parks. We are delighted that we have been able to reach agreements with our parks to involve guests in these extremely exciting experiences.
An example of this would be the darting of a lion for specific interventions. The experience typically begins after a short drive to the briefing area, here guests receive a detailed brief on the programme of events and an explanation on the reason why the exercise is about to take place.
The process of enticing the predators to the bait involves securing a carcass to a tree or similar anchor and then playing a recording of a distressed animal calling, once the subjects are at the carcass, the vet will dart the individual. Generally about 5 to 10 minutes will pass whilst the individual succumbs to the effects of the sedative. The vehicles move in and create a lager around the individual with our guides keeping a watchful eye over other members of the pride, assuming there are any. In this case the lion is loaded onto the back of a vehicle by guests.
The individual is removed from the site and taken a safe distance away to begin the procedures. Procedures could include; branding, placing or removing collars, inserting micro chips etc. Throughout the experience maximum guest participation is encouraged.

Bird drive: Enjoy a drive in Pilanesberg with a highly trained and specialist guide devoting all of your time to the feathered inhabitants of the Bush - Pilanesberg boasts a bird count in excess of 280 species. Due to the varied terrain of Pilanesberg and the fact that it lies in the transition zone of two different vegetation types the chance of seeing birds of different areas is great and rewarding. Bird drives are tailor made to suit everyone, from someone starting out to experience the great joy of Birding to the experienced Twitcher looking for that ever elusive Lifer Tick to add to their list.
Botany drive including medicinal uses of indigenous plants: Flora is an often overlooked integral part of an ecosystem.Spend a few hours with us immersed in the wonder that is to be had in vegetation and we will change your view from seeing grass and trees as an unpleasant screen hiding that ever elusive Leopard to one of understanding and complete amazement. As well as understanding the integral interdependency that exists between fauna and flora we will also show you how plants can, and still to this day do, serve as a cure all for various daily Human ailments.
Astronomy and mythology drives: The beauty of stars in the African Bush is rivaled only by their number and clarity. When did you last take the time to stop and look up at the night sky and contemplate humanity Join us on a drive to explore the realm of distant planets and constellations, and the folklore responsible for their everyday notoriety.
Family safari: There can be little quite as special as sharing an African safari with your children. It is in our experience that we also need to adjust the style with which we conduct a safari to appeal to children. We are also obliged to make certain that we do all we can not to disrupt our other guests.
Although our rules and regulations are as follows;
- Children up to the age of 6 are not permitted on regular safaris.
- Children between the ages of 6 and 12 are permitted on regular safaris.
- we will offer a kiddies bush bumble (shortened safari for kids)
CONFERENCES
Ivory Tree has included a dedicated conference room among its facilities. Please enquire into the availability of conference room equipment before concluding your conference planning.
Alongside is a thumbnail of a proposed seating layout. This specific plan indicates a class room type layout and makes provision for 70 delegates. In our opinion, however, 80 delegates seated in this configuration would be the maximum possible.
If the idea of another routine game lodge experience raises little more than a sigh, gets you running to the doctor for a sick note, meeting with the reserve bank for assistance with payment, and where some lazy lodge manager tells you what you cant do, then this is just the answer for you.
