The 4 star Mieliefontein Karoo Guest Farm is situated next to the Seekoei River on a 12000 hectare of Karoo land in Hanover, the Northern Cape Province.
The working farm is managed by owners, Ian and Elma Ferreira and guests can expect a personalised service. The farm produces wool, dairy, ostrich, Karoo lamb, venison and beef. Meet the charming farm workers, listen to traditional stories and enjoy mouth-watering farm food.
The guestfarm’s garden is large and features walkways, a natural spring, ponds and olive groves. The vegetable garden provides fresh produce for meals. The house features 8 bedrooms, decorated with antique wooden furniture, can sleep up to 17 guests. Most rooms look out on to the garden. Meals are made from the farm’s fresh produce and are served on the second floor where guests can enjoy a view of the river and surrounding panoramic landscape.
Horse riding, donkey-cart rides, fishing, birding, safari's and mountain biking are just a few of the great activities that are available to guests. Guests can look forward to spotting the hippos which have been recently re-located to the area. Crystal clear Karoo skies allow for night walks and stargazing. Hunting trips can be organised prior to arrival.
